FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the source of protein in GlycoSlim drink?

Mannatech's GlycoSlim drink is made with non-genetically modified isolated soybean protein. Consumers can enjoy the health benefits of the phytonutrients found in soy such as the isoflavones genistein and daidzein without concern about the presence of genetically-modified organism (GMO) ingredients.

Is there anyone who should not use the products in the GlycoLEAN® Body System?

The GlycoLEAN® Accelerator3™ capsules have an advisory on the label stating that the product should not be used by those under eighteen years of age. The label also states this product is not intended for use by individuals with heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland unless approved by a doctor. As with any new dietary supplement, if pregnant or nursing, consult a doctor before using this product. It is always advisable to consult a physician before beginning any diet program.

The ingredients listed on the labels of all the products in the GlycoLEAN® Body System should be reviewed carefully by anyone with known food allergies or sensitivities to avoid accidental ingestion of a known allergen.

How is GlycoSlim® drink different from other meal replacement shakes?

Unlike many other meal replacement shakes, GlycoSlim® drink is low-glycemic and contains no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners or preservatives.

What is the glycemic index of GlycoSlim® drink?

The GlycoSlim® drink’s glycemic index is 36 with skim milk and 33 with water.

What fruits can I add to French Vanilla and Chocolate GlycoSlim® drink?

You can add any fresh or frozen low-glycemic fruit to your French Vanilla or Chocolate GlycoSlim® drink. Make a smoothie by adding your favorite fruit to the GlycoSlim® drink in the blender. The only fruits that are not low-glycemic are watermelon (the only high-glycemic fruit currently indexed), bananas, apricots, mangos, papayas, paw paws, pineapples, cantaloupes, raisins and sultanas. These are all rated as moderately-glycemic and are acceptable in limited amounts when you are on a weight maintenance diet.

What changes have been made to the GlycoSlim drink mix?

• Our previous fiber source, inulin, has been replaced by maltodextrin, an alternate fiber source, and the amount of fiber was increased from two grams to five grams per serving as a product improvement.
• Secondary changes include:
o Fructooligosaccharide, a source of fiber and sweetness, was removed
o Stevia, an all-natural sweetener, was added

Why was this change made?

Inulin is an insoluble fiber, and because it is not easily broken down in the body, it can cause some undesirable gastrointestinal (GI) effects, such as gas and bloating. Maltodextrin is a soluble fiber and easily digestible so GI effects should be minimized.

Was anything wrong with the previous formula?

No, the previous formulation met the same high standards that all Mannatech products are held to. This is simply a product improvement.

Have these changes affected the product in any other ways?

The amount of fiber was increased from two grams to five grams as a product improvement. Additional fiber can provide a feeling of fullness, which aids in appetite suppression.*

Has this change affected the taste or consistency of the product?

No, there are no noticeable changes in taste or consistency.

Does the reformulation affect both flavors?

Yes, the formula was changed for both the chocolate and French vanilla flavors.

If the change was made due to GI distress, won’t more fiber cause more distress?

No, the GI distress reported with the previous formula was due to the type of fiber, not the amount. Additional fiber content aids in the feeling of fullness.
